Default Where’s Hatchman Wednesday May 1 Course 4 - Kerang

Had the last of 3 rounds at the same course in the morning. My mates returned home while I continued on stopping somewhere for a game.

    Course revealed Sunday May 5

    18 Holes
    Par 71
    5748m
    4 Par 5's
    9 Par 4's
    5 Par 3's

    $30 Green Fess 18 holes
    $20 Green Fees 9 Holes
$30 Cart Hire 18 holes by prior arrangement
$15 Cart Hire 9 holes by prior arrangement

Tight couch grass fairways with some patches of Kikuyu from tee to green.
Small to tiny built up bent grass greens.

Didn't enjoy this course much at all which was a pity as the conditioning was good. Too many tee shots had the line to the fairway obstructed with a tree(s) requiring a drive to be shaped too often. The built up greens were not fun having to flop up onto a plateau all the time given their small size. The thing that tipped me right over the edge was the Par 5 5th hole. Water all the way down the left to the fairway edge and out of bounds fence all the way down the right hand side. It was not the water and OOB but the cluster of trees on the right that protrude out into the fairway. I hit the drive right of center with it drifting a little more right finishing on fairway easily still. Get to my ball and still have 230m in but had absolutely no shot due to a cluster of trees that have no need to be there on a such an intimidating hole with the water and OOB.

I was on fairway and stuck with virtually no shot for the second from 230m out.
Below is the result of a slightly thin 9 iron.

I have no idea where that is, but having to shape tee shots like that course demands is making me tumescent.

I think I know where this is. Photo 3 is of the 4th from the tee block?

Well, it is flat enough for Mildura.

Kerang may be the flattest golf course in Australia. Less than half a metre rise and fall across the course. They used to flood irrigate it to get some water to the grass.

I won the 1986 Kerang Open by two shots.

    Nice one.
Did/have you played many Opens around the state(s)?
How many Club Honor boards do you have your name on?
